There are no required texts for this course. All of the material you will need will be given in your lecture notes.
Recommended: "Severe and Hazardous Weather: An Introduction to High Impact Meteorology".
*TopHat will be required. Licenses can be purchased through the ISU Book Store.
Course Objectives
This course is designed to give a basic understanding of atmospheric processes related to severe weather. The first few weeks of this course will explore the fundamental
properties of the atmosphere. This information will serve as background material to help students understand concepts related to each severe weather topic discussed in
the second half of the course.

* Each lecture period will have at least one TopHat question related to the current or previous day’s information. Attendance will be taken based on answering these questions IN CLASS. Students DO NOT need to answer the questions correctly to get credit for attendance; the idea is to attend class and learn from the questions. We only meet 14 times during the semester including the midterm. Life does happen (illness, flat tires, inclement weather, etc.). If something like this does come up, email the instructor prior to class and it will be taken into consideration.
** The midterm and final exam will be multiple choice tests. The midterm exam will be 40 questions, and the final exam will be 50 questions.
