Instructions for Automatically Fowarding @iastate.edu Email

To forward email sent to your iastate.edu address, go to the Account Services on the Web site (http://asw.iastate.edu). Log in by entering your Project Vincent login name (your Net-ID) and password and then clicking on the "Login" button.

A new window will appear, giving a list of links. Click on "Manage User" (near the top of the list), then click on "View/Edit your e- mail delivery" (first on the list).

This is the page where email forwarding is set. Click the bullet next to "Forwarded to" and type in the address where the email is to go. Click the "Update Now" button. The screen will change slightly with one line explaining that it takes an overnight process for forwarding to take effect.

Then click the "Logout" button to logout properly from the Acropolis Web Page.

NOTES:

• The process to set email forwarding takes overnight to implement. Forwarding to the external address will not occur until then. Prior to that, the email will continue to go to your iastate.edu mailbox.

• Messages that have not been delivered already to an e-mail client (e.g., Outlook or Exchange) will be sent as one large message to the forwarding address. Your external account (e.g., gmail) may not be able to handle this potentially large email message. To avoid problems, you should log into WebMail or something comparable before the forwarding is activated and ingest all current email messages.
