The risks of using nuclear fission as a source of electrical power are well known - accidental radiation release, disposal of wastes, transport of materials - but it is becoming increasingly clear that continued extensive use of fossil fuels also has its risks - climate change. Is there a future for nuclear power?

The 19 August 2005 issue of Science has a series of articles on the future of nuclear power:

Clery, D., 2005: Nuclear industry dares to dream of a new dawn. Science, 309, 1172-1175.

Marshall, E., 2005: Is the friendly atom poised for a comeback? Science, 309, 1168-1171.
