Instructions
System Requirements
The ability to post a word processed document into the electronic dialog
is dependent on whether or not your machine has enough memory for
both the Internet client and the word-processing program. If
not, then you may send the document via email to:
Michael Taber
mtaber@iastate.edu
and your paper will be posted.
Cut and Paste
- Using your machine's method for "cut and paste," you can simply
cut the document and paste into the form's window on
the dialog. First try this with the title of your paper, by cutting the
title from your document and pasting it into the "Document Title" form
on the electronic dialog. When finished, return to this page.
- If you were successful in cutting out the title and pasting
it, then you are all set to fill out the rest of the forms. When you
get to the "Paper" window, cut your document and paste it into the form.
Adding HTML to Your Paper
If you are comfortable with HTML and would like to make a reference link to
any item on the World Wide Web (including our own course), then
you can simply add the HTML code directly into your document. When you
post your paper, the link will show up as a highlighted reference, just
like any HTML link. Here is an example of how to do the link...
Suppose in your paper that you want to make a link to an image from the
carbon cycle lecture. All you have to do is put the HTML code into your
sentence:
...looking at concentrations
of CO2 in the atmosphere...
To view the HTML code used for the link, use the "Document Source" option
under the "View" menu item (for Netscape users) or the "View
Source..." option under the "File" menu (for Mosaic users).
Simply type in the same HTML commands and change the http reference link
accordingly.
