• California State University Long Beach
  Earth Systems and Global Change (GEOL 300i), by Dr. Rick Behl, is still on-line from Fall 1997. A feature of this site is the addition of lecture notes each week. Required readings are hyperlinked to their appropriate web site. http://seis.natsci.csulb.edu/rbehl/300.htm#Lectures

• Columbia University
  A team from the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department has designed a site to help college students learn about the earth system: http://rainbow.ldeo.columbia.edu/ees/overview.html. The home page encompasses three courses offered at Columbia (The Climate System, The Solid Earth System, The Life System. Professor Jim Hays is the project coordinator.

• Cornell University
  The Science of Earth Systems Colloquium is a web site by Cornell's Department of Soil, Crop, and Atmospheric Sciences Department. An interesting feature is the on-line study guide companion that supplements the class textbook. Click http://wwwscas.cit.cornell.edu/ses/ses102.html

• Emporia State University
  Ice Age Environments, by Professor James S. Aber, is a well-designed and topically thorough web site. A must see for anyone interested in the Pleistocene Epoch (Ice Age). http://acedemic.emporia.edu/aberjame/ice/icehome.htm

• North Carolina State University

• Simon Fraser University
  The Simon Fraser University operates a TeleLearning Research Network that lists upcoming conferences relating to web-based instructions http://www.telelearn.ca/telelearn. Professor T. Craig Montgomerie, Canadian Centre for the Development of Instructional Computing has used the University of British Columbia course-building materials to create a web course: http://www.quasar.ualberta.ca/nethowto.

• University of British Columbia
  The University of British Columbia has developed WebCT (World Wide Web Course Tool) that might be of interest to those developing web courses. WebCT http://homebrew.cs.ubc.ca/webct is a tool that facilitates the creation of sophisticated World Wide Web-based educational environments. It can be used to create entire on-line courses, or to simply publish materials that supplement existing courses. It has a facility for tracking student navigation through materials http://homebrew.cs.ubc.ca/naweb enabling the instructor to monitor student use of web materials. Murray W. Goldberg, Instructor and Senior Faculty Advisor in the Department of Computer Science, University of British Columbia, also has reported results of an experiment in Computer-Aided Learning http://homebrew.cs.ubc.ca/papers/calos-res.
