Planetary wave data was gathered daily from August 22, 2005 to November 11 of the same year. Data parameters gathered included the wave number (k), amplitude (A), wave propagation speed (C), the 500 hPa wind speed (U-500), and the upper tropospheric wind speed (U-upper). The analysis of the relationship of these parameter in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres as well as how the waves reacted to the change of seasons are presented here.

Solar constant with varying surface conditions:
This is a representation of how temperature varies on Earth with the amount of incoming solar radiation. The units for the solar constant are W/m² and the unit for surface temperature is in Kelvins (K). The blue dotted line represents the relationship between surface temperature and the solar constant without the humidity variable. The red dotted line represents the relationship between surface temperature and the solar constant with the humidity variable. One notable difference between these two lines is in the curve where the temperature is about 290 K. The emissivity begins to increase, therefore the amount of outgoing radiation increases. In order to balance the radiation going out, the incoming solar radiation must increase as well.
The whole plot shows why solar radiation amounts are higher for a given temperature in presence of the atmosphere. Also, this assumption can be physically atributed to lower amounts of precipitable water (PW) aloft at low temperatures.
Using MATLAB (Matrix Laboratory), we can compute the solar constant with varying surface conditions by ploting some equations on the program. MATLAB is a software system for numerical computations and graphics. This software allow us to manipulate equations and variables for experiments with some given environment.
