  • Cedar Rapids Storm

These are some pictures from a storm that moved into
the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area on June 18th, 2010.
There wasn't much severe weather associated with the
storm but there was a bunch of rain. Flash flooding
caused many roads, including Interstate 380 to become
    covered with water.

spawned from this storm that evening.

    Cedar Rapids Flood of 2008

These photos are from the flooding that occurred in
Cedar Rapids in 2008. This one is of the water coming
from Cedar Lake just west of St. Luke's Hospital.
The lake is normally on the other side of Interstate 380.
The parking ramp that this was taken from has one more
    level below the water level.

This picture was taken looking down the hill on
Coe Road which runs between St. Luke's Hospital
and Coe College. The road takes a turn to the
right in between the groups of trees in the distance.

This photo was taken as the water level began to receed.

In this photo, we see that downtown Cedar Rapids was
almost completely underwater. The river is normally
about three blocks in the distance. The bridges that
cross the river and connect the two sides of town were
all completely covered by the river.

This photo is of Dry Creek in the northern part of
Cedar Rapids. As the name sort of suggests,
Dry Creek is normally a very small creek that goes
through some residential areas. During the
flood, however, it became a raging river.
