March 24, 2007:

Probably shouldn't have gone out this day, but I didn't have anything better to do on a Sunday afternoon. My roommate Andrew Ansorge and I left Ames around noon, heading north on I-35. We stopped at a hotel in Mason City to look at data. We could see the surface winds increasing in strength, mixing out the moisture near the surface. A tornado watch was issued, so we decided to keep with it. Continued to Albert Lea, and then proceeded east on I-90. Ended the chase in Rochester, MN, where we met up with several other ISU students.

Even though it was a bust, I can still say I learned a lot, and that made the trip very much worth it. Also, while in Mason City, we ran into a few yahoo chasers from Minnesota. I would have to describe them to be much similiar to a cult. For example, the leaders would not allow the younger members look at SPC. Crazy way to learn in my opinion...

Storms forming to our west.

Still trying...

Not enough CAPE, high LCL.

Nice sunset anywho.
