March 24, 2007:
Probably shouldn't have gone out this day, but I didn't have anything better to do on a Sunday afternoon. My roommate Andrew Ansorge and I left Ames around noon, heading
north on I-35. We stopped at a hotel in Mason City to look at data. We could see the surface winds increasing in strength, mixing out the moisture near the surface. A
tornado watch was issued, so we decided to keep with it. Continued to Albert Lea, and then proceeded east on I-90. Ended the chase in Rochester, MN, where we met up with
several other ISU students.
Even though it was a bust, I can still say I learned a lot, and that made the trip very much worth it. Also, while in Mason City, we ran into a few yahoo chasers from
Minnesota. I would have to describe them to be much similiar to a cult. For example, the leaders would not allow the younger members look at SPC. Crazy way to learn in
my opinion...
