March 31, 2007:

Interesting day. Started the day by meeting up with Ross Bradshaw in cold, rainy Ames. We headed south on Hwy. 169 to just south of Winterset, IA. From there we observed a ring of convection heading in our direction. We had a good selection of storms to pick from once we got there, and chose to follow the southern most storm. We watched it graze past us to the east. As it passed near Winterset, that's when we observed the small lowering on the back side of the storm. Shortly after, the storm died on us, as it was moving into a very stable environment.

Storms to the west of Winterset.

The one on the left, or the right?.

We chose the one on the left.

Here is come, well defined edge there.

Following the southern edge.

Starting to get interesting.

C'mon storm...

Nice shot of the storm.

Interesting cloud lowering.
