• What are the mechanisms controlling availability of phosphorus in terrestrial soils, and how do these mechanisms respond to perturbations such as acid precipitation, fire, or deforestation?
• What is the flux of riverine phosphorus to the oceans; how has it changed in the past; how is it changing today? What are the consequences of these changes?
