Why should you join the local or national chapters of the AMS? Find out the benefits below!
Local BenefitsThroughout the year members of the chapter participate in many severe weather awareness events in local communities. The chapter has assisted members of the community program their weather radios when they purchase them at local stores, or bring them to events at the local library. Members also present survival techniques for cold weather and severe summer weather, and educate people what to do in dangerous situations.
In addition to helping out with events in the community, members also participate in weather education on the Iowa State campus. Each year, the chapter participates in the annual campus VEISHEA celebrations, displaying their tornado machine and teaching visitors about the warning signs of severe weather events, and how to prepare for them.
