Importance of this Unit to the Course
Sea-level rise is a potential consequence of global
warming that might impact hundreds of millions of people. Here we examine
the contributing causes to
sea-level rise and use climate model projections to estimate future sea-level rise.
Objectives
- To review the record of past sea level conditions and understand the
causes of global sea-level rise.
- To understand the dynamics that lead to changes in major fresh water
reservoirs (ice masses) and how these reservoirs are vulnerable to global
climate change.
